The purpose of the classes is to enhance your knowledge of textiles and the many uses that are possible;

whether it be utilitarian, fashionable or art. I want to be bring out the unexpected so that your freedom

of expression will be touched trough the very fibers you are working with. Imagine and Release.....

Umbrella Hand Painting Class.

TOTAL $700.00 + Tax =

1/2 deposit is required

CLASS PREPARATIONS.

Bring 2 to 5 drawings that you would like to paint onto your silk umbrella.

Wear comfortable clothes & shoes that you don't mind staining.

Bring an assortment of paintbrushes, 4 absorbent rags, and containers to put your paints and chemicals in.

i.e. cream cheese plastic containers, yogurt, cottage cheese any plastic containers with lids.

All paints & chemicals, umbrella and daily boxed lunch will be supplied .

Pay 1/2 to secure your place in class and the balance upon arriving for the first day of class.

SYLLABUS

July 7 -2018

9:00 am to 11:00 am

I'll have a brief demo of design concepts and then we will discuss your designs.

11:00 am to 12:00 noon we will distribute supplies of paints, chemicals and Umbrellas.

12:00 noon to 1:00 pm

Break for lunch; you are welcome to come back early and organize your space at 12:30 or work on drawings.

1:00 pm to 2:00pm

I will work with preparation of painting on your umbrella so you can get started painting.

You will have the rest of the afternoon to paint and I will be there to assist you with any of your questions.

5:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Talk about where you are with your piece to evaluate what you need to do tomorrow.

5:30 pm to 6:00 pm

Clean up and get ready to stop for the day.

July 8

9:00 am to 12:00 noon

Paint and finish your umbrellas.

12:00 noon to 1:00 pm

Break for lunch; you are welcome to come back early to finish and work on your umbrella.

1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Carefully line up your umbrellas for a critique and presentation of your umbrellas, while they dry.

2:30 pm to 3:00 pm

Watch a demo of how to heat set your umbrella at home.

3:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Invite your friends and family to see your work and sell it through the gallery if you want to.

5:30 pm to 6:00pm

Take your pieces home if they didn't sell or if they were just for display?

Photos are allowed during the critique and mini show if everyone is agreeable.

I don't want photos taking up time of doing your art.

Please no extraneous photos or texting during class.
