This Saturday! Popup Event featuring potter, Jacob Frye - July 20th, 2019

Join us this Saturday, July 20th, at True West Gallery in Santa Fe, for a pop up event from 10am - 5pm. We're honored to have Jacob and his work here, and hope you will join us.

Jacob Thomas Frye was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico and is an enrolled member of Tesuque Pueblo, he is a fourth-generation potter and painter. Jacob comes from a diverse ethnic background that is true New Mexican. Frye’s mother is a traditional potter from Tesuque Pueblo, and his father is an artist from Ft. Collins Colorado. Frye’s father moved the family out near Zuni New Mexico, to a small Mormon town called Ramah. The pueblo of Zuni is twenty miles west of the Ramah Valley. Frye’s father was a middle school art teacher for twenty-five years. Frye’s passion for art and learning started when he was five years old working alongside his parents with clay. The Ramah area is rich in Anasazi history, and was inspired by great renaissance pueblo artists, such as Nampeyo from Hopi Pueblo in northern Arizona, and Maria Martinez from San Ildefonso Pueblo along the Rio Grande valley. Frye was never taught his Tewa language. He believes pottery and design is the visual language he could speak and teach others.
