Ca'Win (Jimmy Calabaza & Family)

Santo Domingo Pueblo

Jimmy Calabaza, also know by his Native name Ca’win, is a highly skilled jewelry artist from Santo Domingo Pueblo. He is known for his expertise in lapidary work as well as for making his own gemstone beads. He is one of few artists working today who still cuts, shapes and polishes all of his gemstones by hand. Calabaza is also skilled in working with silver and gold. In his handcrafted jewelry, he blends the legacy of Santo Domingo bead and inlay jewelry with his own contemporary vision, resulting in jewelry of stunning quality and value. Calabaza’s jewelry is part of the collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. and New York, The Southwest Museum in Los Angeles and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, NM.
